Our Story

Caruso Engineering was founded in 2017 to serve the local residential and light commercial structural engineering markets in Northeast Ohio. Today, we deliver structural engineering, heavy civil consulting, and underground engineering in Northeast Ohio and beyond.

Caruso Engineering draws from years of experience successfully delivering engineering design and consulting services to clients large and small to provide a "best fit" engineering service for all our clients. We have also built a network of trusted professional partners, including Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Designers, and Consultants, to ensure our clients always have access to the best people for their project.

Christopher Caruso PE, DBIA
President, Founder

Chris has over 13 years of experience in structural design of heavy civil, commercial, and residential structures. He has worked on projects ranging from ~$1,000 residential basement repairs in the Cleveland Area to $200k bulkhead replacements on Long Island to $250 million CSO tunnels in Northeast Ohio for managing municipal and regional stormwater overflows.

Chris grew up on the east end of Long Island, NY. He earned his Bachelors in Engineering from Swarthmore College outside Philadelphia, PA and his Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. After finishing school, he worked in the Boston, MA area for about 5 years before moving with his wife to the Cleveland, OH area.

He currently resides on the east side of Cleveland with his wife and three children.

Alexander Conroy, EIT
Structural Engineer II

Alex has over 7 years of construction management experience in the heavy highway and heavy industrial sectors. He has been actively involved on several multi-million-dollar projects, from conception to completion, for clients such as the Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Turnpike, and Northeastern Ohio Sewer District. His previous projects range from a $300k emergency bridge beam repair to a $30 million design-build project for improving and modernizing the I-77 and I-490 interchange, near Broadway Avenue.

Alex is a Cleveland born native, growing up in the southern suburbs of Parma, Ohio. After graduating from Valley Forge Highschool in 2012, he attended Ohio University in Athens Ohio, and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He graduated cum laude in 2016 and moved back to the Cleveland area where he began working as a field engineer for a local general contractor. Because of his passion for carpentry and design, Alex decided to make a transition from construction management to structural design, and hopes to utilize all of his previous experiences to make everlasting impacts and relationships with his current and future clients.

Alex currently lives on the west side of Cleveland with his soon-to-be wife, Katie, and pets, Thor and Jarvis.
